Chad Bacon, General Manager of Luke’s Lobster Philly, on this move from DC top Philly to build out our 10th shop”
“It was a beautiful Sunday, just a few weeks ago, when I awoke in my bed in Washington DC. The suitcases and boxes around my room, which was home for the past year, reminded me that this was no ordinary day. In just a few short hours I would be picked up by Garret, the Director of Operations Mid-Atlantic Region, and whisked away to Philadelphia, a city I had never been to. Those few hours went by quickly as I packed up the last of my things and shared a last meal with one of my roommates. Like clock-work, Garret showed up and with his help and my roommates’, I packed my things and hit the open road. With DC in the rearview mirror, Garret and I set the GPS to Rittenhouse Square, put on our shades and turned up the tunes. Philadelphia or bust.
We arrived to Philadelphia three hours later. We pulled up to my new home on South Street and unpacked my life. Shortly after, we walked to the newest Luke’s Lobster on 17th and Sansom. Going in through the back, I stepped into the kitchen I will come to know very well. The inside of the shop was gorgeous. Some debate whether love at first sight exists. In this case, I fell in love right away and knew I had made the right choice.
The excitement has continued to build over the last couple weeks. People on the streets look in the shop with curiosity and always want to know who we are. In just a few days everyone in Philadelphia will get to see exactly who we are and what we offer. Get ready Philly, we have arrived.”
See you on Thursday, Philly!

Penn Quarter has a Brew of the Month!
The Clipper City Brewery’s Heavy Seas Uber Pils has the hoppy start of an Imperial pilsner moving toward a light citrusy, malted finish reminiscent of a lager. The well-rounded bock has a golden color that pairs well with lighter fare and is robust with spice. Brewed outside of Baltimore, Small Craft is a new local addition to our selection of craft brews. Cheers!
